Cape Symphony has launched a competition to inspire conductors and Hyannis Film Festival seeks videos from young people.
No orchestra at home? No problem. Cape Symphony officials say they want people to find their “inner conductor” and you don’t even need to read music.
For its first-ever amateur conducting competition, dubbed the “Baton Hero” contest, the symphony is seeking submissions of videos of people age 18 or older conducting an invisible orchestra playing one song. Entries may use any piece of classical or pops symphonic music in the public domain (written prior to 1924). Examples suggested by the symphony:
