For his latest film, “Hun Pilots,” Mark Vizcarra didn’t have to look far for inspiration. His father, Victor Vizcarra, a retired Air Force colonel and 22-year Ramona resident, had extensive experience flying America’s first supersonic fighter and even wrote a book about it.

Mark Vizcarra, a retired Navy commander who lives in 4S Ranch and has won several awards for his military documentaries, is having his new film showcased in the virtual GI Film Festival San Diego.

The festival version of “Hun Pilots” is 56 minutes long and features interviews with several Vietnam-era pilots, including his father, who flew the F-100 Super
